My Beagle Puppy Plays Aggressivly
Within the last month my little dog Harley has become very aggressive towards my bigger dog Alice at night when she goes near him. It is after they go out and come back in to get a treat. Alice cannot go near him or his bed without him attacking her. I usually can stop his aggression b my calling their names over the growling and barking.
My beagle puppy plays aggressivly. The puppy accepted his role as “second fiddle” in relation to the older dog’s status. There were no major incidents. However, 3 years later, we introduced a third puppy into the mix (another male, “Tenor”) and we immediately saw some dominant/aggressive behaviors that we knew we needed to gain control of early. Play is a very important part of the canine learning curve. Even as very young puppies, dogs set their boundaries through playing with their littermates. When dogs meet new dogs, they use their social skills to determine how their relationship will develop. One dog asserts his dominance, the other concedes and behaves. If a dog has too many toys, it may begin to hoard them in a safe place in order to feel more powerful. My 3.5 month old German Shepherd is a good girl most of the time. We are just having a problem with her at the moment in that she is being too rough and grabbing one of my sons clothes more than anyone else in the family. He is 11. My family isn't cooperating with the advice you've given me so far. Since I can't find a wag article about family cooperation for dog training, and I've tried by best to train Lucky on my own (he's not tall, he is a Jack Russel mixed with Labrador and maybe some boxer), he only listens to me and only me, and he also "fears" me as well. It's how they communicate with other puppies and dogs.... and this behavior plays an important role in their social development. I have had a small rescue puppy who is about 7 months old for 3 weeks. I also look after my sons puppy- 10 months old- 4 days a week. They love being together but my puppy is biting the other too hard when they play.
