My Scared 6 Month Old Akita Puppy Bit A Child
I have a 5 month old akita and a 6 month old son. After reading some old news articles about Akitas attacking children I would be lying if I said I wasn't feeling strange about my dog. I can't fault my dog in any way. He's calm, obedient and stays well away from my child. Always has without being told. I know Akitas can be dangerous animals but are great companions.
My scared 6 month old akita puppy bit a child. I have a 13 month old puppy and he humps my 4 yr old son. The problem is when he does and is on his back legs he is the size of my son and I am so nervous that he may nip. Of course my son giggles and I do believe the puppy is Ives excited/playful but I need it to stop. Problem is once he has mounted it’s hard to break. The scared dog. The old fashioned assumption was that the dog who guards his bowl is trying to be ‘in charge’, to dominate his owner. We now know that this is not true. In fact quite the reverse. But his height feels like he is too tall to be a shiba inu puppy.

I have owned 7 Akita’s and and currently have 10 year old male and a two year old female. I got all of them as puppy’s but my two year old is quite a challenge. I had to give my 6 month old puppy to a rescue today. I have been crying for almost two days non-stop. My pup had some resource guarding issues and became agressive with my son. I just felt that I couldn’t risk the dog becoming full size, going it again, and someone really getting hurt. I worked with the dog from the moment we got him. I am a foster mother – I have had 13-month-old babies to 16-year-old boys… He is so completely gentle with babies – and he stands sideways by the steps so the baby won’t fall down them.
