I just bought a male yorkie pup. He is 3 months old and has white hair on the top of his head. It is also very thin. He has black hair on the rest of his body but all of his roots are white as well. He looks like someone who needs a hair color touch up. My husband bought him because of the white hair, it made him different from my other yorkie who is 3 years old.

My yorkie puppy s hair is turning white. Why is My Dog’s Poop White? This is a question many dog-owners find themselves asking and there’s no question why. When you notice your dog’s feces are a bright, white color rather than a healthy brown, it sparks reason for concern. These dog's do not require hair cuts as their hair reaches a maximum length and then is shed or brushed out. Yorkie's are a Single-Coated breed, and more closely resemble the hair of humans, which can be fine, long, and silky. Just like human hair, it grows continuously, needs to be cared for, and eventually trimmed or shaved. A Yorkie with a silk coat has fine, humanlike hair that grows in a single layer with no undercoat. When properly groomed, your silk-coat Yorkie's fur will hang perfectly straight off the body. It will not be wavy and will be very shiny because of the translucent nature of the show-quality Yorkie's colors. As the Yorkie changes from a puppy to adult, there is more tan/gold coloring than black or blue. Therefore, an adult has a much lighter coat color than a puppy. The hair on a Yorkie’s head, breast and belly is golden and should not include any blue. The legs are also golden up to the elbows and knees.

It is common for the hair to come in white before changing to a tan or gold. Dig deep and you will find the hair so light that it will make it look like the puppy is almost going bald. It is so common that I warn my puppy buyers about that. Some will start "breaking" as its called anywhere from 9 weeks to close to a year old. Pink hair can be cute on a person, and when dye is applied safely, it may look good on a dog too! Sometimes, however, a dog's white hair may appear pink or rusty, which may be a cause for concern, or perhaps just a cleaning. Pink dog fur is a result of staining, and the cause should be addressed. The Yorkshire Terrier has a beautiful and unique coat that is one of the defining features of this breed. This article will cover various aspects related to a Yorkie's hair, including type of coat, change in hair from puppy to adult, the most commonly seen problems with the coat, and helpful care tips to keep both skin and coat in excellent shape. View of the head of the Yorkie from above: 1) White-yellow colored hair on the head’s top. Such puppies do have very bright coloring as adults. 2) Silver-steel shade of the hair on the head’s top. When they mature, such puppies will be with classic steel coloring of the coat and the muzzle will be bright reddish.

Dogs with white fur can be a real challenge to keep clean. Just as with white clothes, dirt can make white dog hair look dingy and yellowed. Fortunately you can get rid of the yellow in a dog's white fur using natural, nontoxic products and store-bought shampoos. Thereafter the final coat color of the Yorkie puppy will be determined by the health of the glandular system that supplies pigment to the puppy’s hair, skin, eyes, eye rims, nose, and toenails. There is little doubt that whatever the final coat color may be, the Yorkie puppy will be an adorable and well loved companion. A puppy approaching adulthood, (or over a year) that has an inch wide stripe from the hair root out, then blue, with the tip and last inch or two still showing its transition from black to blue, will with age lose the blackish tips on the end as they are worn off or cut off as the coat achieves floor length. These markings will fade quickly and will not persist into adulthood. Many breeders say that a white mark on the chest is an indication that the puppy will be a good coat grower – though not indicative of the quality of hair, the puppy will likely be able to grow a long full coat in adulthood.

Answer (1 of 3): Since he's a puppy, and is not geriatric, he is actually just growing into his primary coloration. Dogs are often different colors when they are puppies then they are when they reach adulthood. They pretty much grow in kind of the same manner that a baby does. You can have a daughter that is born with a large shock of black hair, then a few years later she's blond. It's not a. A Yorkie's coat gradually changes for up to two years, and it may stabilize only to change again -- perhaps even into the third year. An adult's hair color can vary from a dark, steel blue to a light, silvery blue. Typically, the black turns blue (a diluted black coloring), yielding a dark steel blue or a shiny silver. Why is my puppy's hair turning white?. When my dog was a puppy (she's 4 now) she was black and gold, now she's silver and gold. 0 0 0. Login to reply the answers Post; Anonymous. 10 years ago. As the others have said it's all in the genetics. The coat on all breeds do change a bit and more so in certain breeds. A dog's hair turns white when his body stops forming melanin. Melanin is the pigment that colors hair, and without it, hair is white. Just as it is with humans, aging is the most common cause of white hair in dogs. It is a normal and natural process and is not a cause for concern.
