My chihuahua puppy is in heat. A Chihuahua with some of its permanent incisors in place is probably four to 4.5 months. If the incisors are all in place, the puppy may be five months old. A Chihuahua that has some permanent canines, premolars and molars in varying stages of eruption is likely between five and 6.5 months of age. My 5.5 lb chihuahua coco that turned 7 in may and was spayed as a puppy as soon as she was old enough is moving her tail over liking in the air and standing like she in in heat. She isn’t bleeding and it started over the last few weeks since getting the make aussie. During the first stage of your Chihuahua’s heat cycle, her vulva will swell and look larger than normal. In this stage, your Chihuahua may urinate more often, and there will be a bloody vaginal discharge. Generally, during this first stage, she will still hold her tail close to her body as a sign that she’s uninterested in breeding. Proestrus: Proestrus is the start of the heat period where your dog’s body is preparing to mate. Signs seen during this phase include a swollen vulva, blood-tinged discharge, excessive licking of the genital area, clingy behavior, and aggression toward male dogs.
